MHK suggests disabled facility at Bounty House

by isleofman.com 13th April 2009

An Onchan MHK is to ask Tynwald to consider buying the development at Bounty House on Main Road in the village.

The site is currently under development by Hartford Homes, although there has been no work there in recent months.

Peter Karran is asking the court to note the commitment of the Department of Local Government and Environment to urban regeneration and says it should consider the feasibility of purchasing the building.

Mr Karran suggests it could be used for a supported independent living service for physically disabled adults, and a project by Onchan Commissioners of public sector housing for the over 50s.

He also wants the department to investigate any other possible government uses and report back by July:
