Castletown ratepayers are being urged to do their bit for Island in Bloom.
The competition, run by the Department of Tourism and Leisure, with the Royal Horticultural Society, is again encouraging towns and villages to improve their appearance.
And at this week’s board meeting, commissioners’ chairman Richard Ronan urged the community to come together.
He said although the centre of Castletown had been akin to a building site in recent times, with the development of the Callow's Yard complex, money was still being spent in the town and the facility would soon be open and an asset.
Members also backed a suggestion from commissioner Dorothy Faragher that the public buildings section of the competition be expanded to include churches.
