A 25 year-old man who admitted drugs offences has been given a seven month prison sentence, suspended for twelve months, by Deemster Doyle.
Tomasz Pasternak, of Belmont Terrace in Douglas, admitted possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply and possessing cannabis bush.
The drugs were found by police during a search of the defendant's home, on October 30 last year. Cannabis resin weighing 874.2 grammes, with a street value of almost ?2,500 was seized, along with 5.2 grammes of cannabis bush and two sets of scales.
Pasternak was arrested and made a full confession in a statement to police.
His advocate said the defendant only intended to supply the drug to his Polish friends. He regretted his actions and he said he had only done it to help support his partner and small child as he was on a low income working as a chef.
Deemster Doyle told Pasternak to stay out of trouble as he would not then have to serve a prison sentence.
