Inquest hears how teenager died by hanging

An inquest has been opened and adjourned after a teenager was found dead at his home in Colby nine days ago.

Nineteen year-old James Antony Briars died of asphyxia due to hanging.

Coroner Michael Moyle read a statement describing how a rope was tied around a beam in the loft at Mr Briars' home, next to a ladder which appeared to have been knocked over.

Mr Moyle commented that it was the fourth case of hanging in the Isle of Man in the last few months.

The iquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed, while enquiries continue.
