'Foreign bodies' on playing fields - answers soon!

by isleofman.com 7th April 2009

Douglas Borough Council should know by the middle of next month what has been causing 'foreign bodies', including pieces of broken glass, pottery and metal, to appear on the surface of the playing fields at Groves Road, Pulrose.

The problem has led to the area being fenced off for about four months, for safety reasons.

The playing fields were constructed on the site of a former tip, and Councillor David Christian says the next phase of work will establish whether any underground water courses were accidentally diverted, during the redevelopment of the Lower Pulrose estate (play attached audio file):

The people who carry out the surveys at Groves Road will do similar work at the Bowl, where major improvement to the drainage will have to be carried out, irrespective of whether the suggested multi-million pound refurbishment of the stadium goes ahead.
