Halsall claims another record

by isleofman.com 6th April 2009

Grant Halsall set a new Island junior and senior record of 26.15 seconds in the 50m backstroke at the Swagelock Isle of Man Swimming Championships at the NSC yesterday.

It was also just 5/100ths of a second outside the British junior record.

This came off the back of the 15-year-old's stunning performance in the 200m backstroke on Saturday when, subject to ratification, he took three-and-a-half seconds off the British junior short course mark.

More records tumbled yesterday, Olivia Rawlinson claiming two new senior ones with 1 min 05.62 in the 100m backstroke and 4 min 26.30 in the 400m freestyle.

Heather Miller equalled the senior record and set a new junior one of 27.48 for the 50m freestyle.

And Tom Bielich set a new junior 200m freestyle record, winning the race in 1 min 58.40.
