Council provides land for road widening scheme

The flow of traffic on one of the main routes into Douglas town centre is to be improved.

The road opposite the railway station shops is to be widened, which means traffic heading down Lord Street will no longer be held up by vehicles turning right, towards the Tesco store.

The work will involve a slight encroachment into the area known as the Archibald Knox gardens, as chairman of the Public Works Committee Stephen Pitts explains:
