Southern Young Farmers win top prize!

by isleofman.com 6th April 2009

The Southern club were the overall winners at last night's annual Young Farmers' Concert at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas.

Runners up were the Northern club, with the Eastern Young Farmers third and the Central club fourth.

The Keith Kerruish Cup for the best individual act went to Richard Creer and Philip Hampton, for the sailor and the mermaid sketch, and the 'Thriller' routine by the Northern Young Farmers took the prize for the best dance performance.

Many in the packed house at the Gaiety thought the result was too close to call, and chairman of the southern club Gareth Quayle told Simon Clarke he didn't expect his team to win (play attached audio file):

John Kennaugh and Simon Clarke will have the full results and interviews with all the clubs, as well as highlights from last night's show, on Tuesday's Countryside programme, from just after 6pm.
