Island praised for supporting Chernobyl charity

Humanitarian aid for children in Belarus is leaving the Isle of Man today.

It will be delivered by Island resident Norman Rivers, the chairman of Friends of Chernobyl's Children.

The charity has been providing holiday breaks for groups of youngsters for many years, giving them a change of environment from the pollution and poverty of their homeland, which was badly affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.

Mr Rivers says the Island's support for the project is invaluable (play attached audio file):
