Commission has new vice-chairman

by isleofman.com 4th April 2009

The Civil Service Commission has a new vice-chairman.

David Callister, MLC, succeeds fellow member of the Legislative Council Dudley Butt, following Mr Butt's appointment as chairman of the employers' side of Whitley Council.

The previous chairman of the employers' side John Houghton, MHK, resigned after a row which began when he reported his counterpart on the employees' side to the police, for allegedly making insulting remarks at a meeting. The allegations were found to be groundless.

Mr Houghton is still chairman of the Civil Service Commission, which is the employing authority for civil servants in the Isle of Man.

The three other, non-Tynwald members of the commission are Geoff Crowe, Ian Jarritt and Major Charles Wilson.
