Points win for Cav after another stage success

by isleofman.com 3rd April 2009

Mark Cavendish is celebrating another stage victory.

The Laxey rider followed up his win in yesterday's second stage of the Trois Jours de Panne in Belgium with further success in the third and final stage.

Once again he pipped Australian Robbie McEwan by half a wheel in an exciting sprint finish, this time at the end of 112 kilometres of racing.

It meant Cav won the points classification with 30 points, three more than McEwan.

Overall winner of the event was Belgian Frederic Willems who edged out overnight leader Filipo Pozzato, who got caught up in a crash earlier in the stage.

Bradley Wiggins, who has taken a year off from track cycling to concentrate on road racing, put the icing on the cake for the British contingent by taking the afternoon time trial which concluded the event.
