Manx National Heritage seasonal sites will re-open to the public for the summer season on 4th April, the first day of the school holidays. There will be activities and events at all thirteen ‘Story of Mann’ sites during the Easter break and for the rest of the season, for adults and children alike.
To celebrate Easter, every child completing the fun quiz ‘The Manx Museum Discovery Trail’ at the Museum will receive a free Easter egg, as well as a voucher giving them free access to a ‘Story of Mann’ site. This feature will run from 4th to 18th April.
Throughout the season, there will be new discovery trails at Manx National Heritage sites across the Island, beginning with Castle Rushen in the near future.
At The House of Manannan in Peel, there will be children’s Easter craft sessions every day during the holidays, including the chance to 'design your own egg cup'. The sessions are available to every child visiting the centre over the holidays for just ?1. Meanwhile, for adults, building on the success of the Christmas farmers’ market (pictured) in the same location, there will be an Easter ‘I love Manx’ market taking place on Easter Sunday at the House of Manannan piazza from 11am to 3pm. There will be a range of stalls selling fresh, seasonal produce, giving consumers the chance to support local growers and suppliers while bagging delicious food for their Easter cooking.
This April will also see the launch of a new money-saver ticket, the 5-Site Pass. This special ticket enables people to visit five heritage attractions in seven days at a reduced admission rate, and will be available to buy from ‘Story of Mann’ sites. Howard Parkin, Public Services Manager, comments 'This great money-saver ticket means that visitors can get the most out of the ‘Story of Mann’ sites for less. It’s the perfect buy for locals with friends and family over to visit, or as an unusual gift for a heritage enthusiast.'
The ‘Story of Mann’ seasonal sites include The Great Laxey Wheel and Mines Trail, The Grove Museum in Ramsey, The Old House of
Keys, The Nautical Museum, The Old Grammar School and Castle Rushen in Castletown, Peel Castle, The National Folk Museum at
Cregneash and Rushen Abbey in Ballasalla. They will be open daily from 10am to 5pm until 31st October 2009. The Manx Museum,
House of Manannan, Niarbyl Cafe and The Sound Restaurant are open all year round.
