Hazardous waste disposal plans explained

The new tip to be located in Bride will ensure hazardous waste is disposed of properly.

The site will be able to handle such substances as asbestos, but assurances have been given in the House of Keys that the surrounding environment will be protected.

Environment Minister John Shimmin said the company which has put in the planning application, Cemex Island Aggregates, would oversee the operation.

Mr Shimmin acknowledged concerns which have been voiced and explained how hazardous waste would be dealt with:
