Douglas hill climb called off by MMRC

Another well known Isle of Man event has had to be cancelled, a couple of weeks before it was due to take place.

The 2009 Manx Classic Hill Climb was scheduled for mid-April, but organisers at the Manx Motor Racing Club say they have run out of time to get permission to run it.

For the last 22 years vintage sports cars have battled it out in the event, which the MMRC says will return next year.

Spokesman Peter Duke says a combination of factors has led to the event being called off, but new safety regulations were the biggest hurdle:
