Bride tip worries to be raised in Keys

by isleofman.com 31st March 2009
Gambling addicts and asbestos are on the agenda in the House of Keys today.

There are 15 questions for oral answer, two for written reply and four bills for MHKS to consider.

Bride landfill will be on the minds of many, particularly the question of whether hazardous materials will be tipped there.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson wants to know if the facility will be used to bury dangerous materials, such as asbestos and what safety measures are in place.

In his second question to Local Government and Environment Minister John Shimmin he will ask whether the government plans to send any waste there.

Peel MHK Tim Crookall will ask DHSS Minister Eddie Teare about the help available for those addicted to gambling.

Among the new laws being considered during today's sitting are Rushen MHK Quintin Gill's bill seeking to ban female circumcision, which will be up for a third reading, and Onchan MHK Peter Karran will move amendments to a new Advocates Bill which would force more of the Island's legal profession to do legal aid work.

You can hear live coverage of the House of Keys questions on Manx Radio's 1368 AM frequency, from 10am.
