Doctor reveals secret weapon in obesity fight

by isleofman.com 30th March 2009
A consultant at Noble's hospital has unveiled a groundbreaking idea in the fight against obesity.

Dr Emran Khan wants to see a "walk to burn" figure printed on all food products, showing approximately how many hours an average person would have to walk to burn off the calories consumed.

He explained his innovative idea at the end of a six month obesity research programme, the results from which suggested it might make a difference.

Leslie Cowin, who lost two stone in what she calls "a calorie controlled diet with a twist", says "walk to burn" worked for her (play attached audio file):

Dr Khan hopes to repeat the study to get more comprehensive, and therefore more reliable, data.

He would then present his ideas to the United Kingdom's food labelling agency.
