Traffic flows again through Demesne Road

by isleofman.com 28th March 2009
Police have reopened Demesne Road in Douglas.

It had been closed for five days, following a flat fire in which a man in his 60s died.

The removal of the road closed signs had been delayed a couple of days, while further work was carried out to make safe the fire damaged property.

But the traffic restrictions were lifted at around 3pm today.

Police today launched a murder inquiry following the blaze, and have arrested a 34 year-old Douglas man on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

The charges relate to the Demesne Road fire in the early hours of Sunday morning, and three other blazes started in the area in the previous 16 hours.
