Local high school makes the news

by isleofman.com 27th March 2009
A number of students in the Isle of Man turned their classrooms into newsrooms today as part of an initiative being run by the BBC.

Thirteen pupils at QE II high school in Peel made news reports for the School Report scheme.

The annual BBC project involves more than 500 schools across the British Isles and the idea is to let students aged from 11 to 14 make features and reports to a real audience.

BBC Isle of Man has been helping the youngsters at QE II to develop their journalistic skills to become School Reporters.

They have been writing, editing and filming, and broadcasting their reports on the school's website.

The material from today's nationwide News Day will be linked to the BBC's national website.
