Fares unchanged, but fouling fine doubles!

by isleofman.com 26th March 2009
Taxi fares have been frozen by the Road Transport Licensing Committee, after it received just five views during a consultation period.

The committee says it usually sets increases by taking an average of the government’s inflation figures for all items and motoring goods, but with inflation so low that would have meant imposing a decrease this year.

However, one charge relating to taxis is going up.

The committee has decided to double the penalty for fouling cabs, from ?50 to ?100.

The relevant legislation uses the phrase: "for fouling a ply for hire car, causing it to go out of service due to the conduct of the passenger".

The increase takes effect from Wednesday next week.
