Demesne Road fire - police seek man and woman

by isleofman.com 25th March 2009
A post mortem is being carried out today on the man who died in the flat fire in Demesne Road at the weekend.

The victim's body was removed from the property last night, more than two days after the blaze.

The delay was to allow work to make the building structurally safe.

Now police have issued descriptions of several people they want to trace in connection with the inquiry.

They particularly want to speak to a man and woman seen walking past number 19 Demesne Road at 4am on Sunday, the time the fire began.

Inspector Will Campbell says it's vital they are traced:

"The male is described as being around six foot, two tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a white baseball cap and a coat which was mainly blue, but had a white 'V' on the neck.

"The female who was with him had long, dark hair, was around five foot, seven tall and was wearing dark coloured jeans.

"I would like to stress we are only looking at these people to help us with our inquiries and they are people who have been identified to us as being in the area, and it's important at this stage that we speak to them."
