The Department of Education has announced the appointment of Vicky Dassoulas as thew new Headteacher of Anagh Coar Primary School.
Mrs Dassoulas, who has been in the teaching profession for more than thirty years, has been the school’s acting Headteacher since Jo Richardson moved to take charge of Onchan Primary School in September 2008.
After teacher training at Madeley College, part of Keele University, Mrs Dassoulas moved to Greece to take up a teaching position.
She remained there for 13 years, teaching both 7-18 year-olds and adults.
She began her Isle of Man teaching career in 1990 at Onchan School and was appointed to Anagh Coar School in 1993 as subject
leader for Maths and ICT, before becoming, in turn, Key Stage 2 leader, Deputy Headteacher and then acting Headteacher.
Her professional interests are promoting eco-awareness among young people, PE and ICT. She has worked as a peer trainer for the
Island’s ICT department and has recently completed her National Professional Qualification for Headship at the National College for School Leadership in Manchester.
Mrs Dassoulas has three grown-up children and her personal interests include reading, walking her dogs and cryptic crosswords.
