Castle Rushen win Charity Challenge

by isleofman.com 25th March 2009
A charity helping the children of war-torn northern Uganda has received a cheque for ?5,000, thanks to the work of a group of students from Castle Rushen High School.

The students were awarded the funds for Childcare Kitgum Servants for their presentation at last night's (Monday) Charity Challenge final.

On the night, the prize fund increased from ?10,500 to ?24,500, courtesy of donations by the Overseas Aid Committee and an anonymous businessman in the audience.

Although Castle Rushen took away the biggest cheque, the other finalists were also given funds for their charities.

One of the winning students, Alice Kelly, says she's learnt a lot through the challenge.
