Harvester owner fined for assault

The owner of the Solway Harvester has appeared in a Scottish court and admitted assault.

Kirkudbright Sheriff Court heard Richard Gidney was challenged by Craig Steele in a pub, over his alleged behaviour towards Mr Steele's wife.

Gidney told the man to come outside but he refused and he punched him.

He was fined ?210 and told to pay Mr Steele ?200 compensation.

The Solway Harvester sank off the east coast of the Isle of Man nine years ago, with the loss of her seven crew.
