Expert to talk on alcohol abuse

by isleofman.com 18th March 2009
A leading authority on alcohol abuse will lead a debate on how to tackle drinking culture when he visits the Isle of Man tomorrow.

Professor Ian Gilmore is President of the Royal College of Physicains and a liver specialist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

He has been invited to the Island by the Chief Minister's Drug and Alcohol Strategy team for a public presentation at the Villa Marina.

With alcohol sold cheaply at a huge number of outlets and available 24/7, his talk will ask 'how can society can achieve a culture change?'

Professor Gilmore says the spotlight is often on the havoc caused by youngsters who have drunk too much, but another worrying trend is emerging:

The presentation is from 3.15 to 4.15pm on Thursday (March 19), at the Villa Marina Colonnade Suite.
