Cost of change to reviled computer system revealed

The Manx government changed its Microsoft operating system to Windows Vista because its version of Windows XP was no longer being supported.

In his reply to a question from David Callister, MLC, Chief Minister Tony Brown told Tynwald the switch had cost ?492,000.

Mr Callister is concerned the move was made shortly before Windows is due to release its new operating system, Windows 7, and told members Vista is widely criticised and highly unpopular with users around the world:
