Funeral of 'Mr Railways'

by isleofman.com 17th March 2009
The funeral takes place today of a man who was instrumental in saving the Island’s steam railway for the Manx nation.

Tony Beard, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 60, was equally influential in restoring the Groudle Glen railway.

Fellow enthusiasts describe him as 'Mr Railways' in the Isle of Man.

Richard Booth and Alex Brindley say his work at Groudle is a lasting legacy (play attached audio file):

Tony Beard’s funeral will be at Douglas Crematorium at 10.45am.
