Pitt's top after two rounds

by isleofman.com 16th March 2009
Andrew Pitt tops the Supersport World Championships standings after Saturday's second round in Losail, Qatar.

The Peel resident, who's the defending champion, finished less than 0.1 seconds behind race winner Eugene Laverty to record his second consecutive runner-up placing.

But that was enough to put him two points clear of his Hannspree Ten Kate teammate Kenan Sofuoglu at the top.

Sofuoglu could only manage fourth after making a mistake on the final curve, which allowed Cal Crutchlow to grab his first podium finish.

The next round takes place in Valencia in three weeks.
