Life-saving and first aid courses available

by isleofman.com 13th March 2009
On the day of the grand opening of the new St John Ambulance headquarters in Douglas, a member of the organisation has been highlighting how it can help people play a vital role in the community.

Director of training Martin Blackburn says, as well as providing first aid support at events, the charity also teaches life-saving skills.

The building in Glencrutchery Road includes improved training facilities and was opened this afternoon by former commander of the organisation in the Island Robin Oake, who is now its worldwide figurehead.

On Talking Heads, Mr Blackburn told Stuart Peters the courses were open to anyone, with half day sessions for those pressed for time, and full day versions also available (play attached audio file):

Anybody interested in taking a St John Ambulance first aid course can visit sja.org.uk or ring 674387.
