Minister explains recent funding decisions

Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle has been defending his department's recent funding decisions.

Earlier this year there was outcry from some quarters when it was announced the jazz festival would be cancelled after failing to receive financial support from the DTL.

Funding has also been pulled for the entertainment at the Sea Terminal end of the promenade during this year's TT fortnight, in favour of new events in the Villa Gardens.

But the DTL has agreed to underwrite the upcoming Viking Festival in Peel.

Mr Quayle says it's not only a question of simple economics, but that does play a big part:
