Cav Beaten in Sprint Finish

by isleofman.com 13th March 2009
Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish had to settle for second place in a sprint finish to this afternoon's third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico race in Italy.

American Tyler Farrar claimed a surprise victory against all the big name finishers and called it the biggest win of his career. He said "Cavendish is the best sprinter in the world. Everyone wants to beat him."

Cavendish did finish ahead of Robbie McEwen and Tom Boonen.

Tomorrow's fourth stage of 171 kilometres has more climbs than the previous days.
