Charity makes final push for Uganda school

by isleofman.com 13th March 2009
A local charity's dream of providing a school for a small Ugandan community has received a big boost.

The Bunscoill Ghaelgagh has raised over ?900 for the project in the town of Namungoona, which is being organised by School For Uganda.

Funding is going well, and a major contribution is due from the Manx government's Overseas Aid Committee.

However, more money is needed, as SFU chairman Elizabeth Banks-Jones explained on Mandate PM:

"To date we've bought five acres of land, just outside Kampala, we have got the architects' blueprints in our hands and we have a project manager out there who is ready to take on the building phase of this.

"We are trying to build a four classroom block, a kitchen block and a toilet block and in order to do that we are just ?2,000 short of our target to be able to open the school next year."

If you would like to help or donate to the project you can call Elizabeth Banks-Jones on 801624; make out a cheque to "School For Uganda" and post it to her at 6 Brookfield Terrace, Foxdale; or deposit money in the School For Uganda account at the Isle of Man Bank in Castletown.
