Karran prominent on question paper

by isleofman.com 13th March 2009
There are 24 questions for oral answer in Tynwald next week, with nearly half of them from Onchan MHK Peter Karran.

Among other things, he wants to know about the proposed publication date for the Southern Area Plan, public sector housing the obligations on people who own listed buildings.

He also has a question which relates to a highly paid person suspended from the Department of Education.

That item relates to the head teacher of Castle Rushen High School, Maria Tomaszewska, who has been suspended since the beginning of the autumn term, last September.

Mr Karran wants to know if she is going to be reinstated, offered a suitable alternative position or dismissed without any further delay.

He will also push the health minister about the reciprocal agreement with the United Kingdom, which will finish at the end of March next year.

Elsewhere, Michael MHK David Cannan will query the current state of relations between the Island's Financial Supervision Commission and the Financial Services Authority in London.

He also wants to know if the chairman and directors of Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander IOM are still in post and being paid.

Tynwald questions will start at 10.30am on Tuesday and, as usual, the entire proceedings of the court will be broadcast live on Manx Radio's 1368 AM frequency.
