by isleofman.com 12th March 2009
An 18 year-old who assaulted police officers and screamed at them during a violent struggle outside a Douglas nightclub has been bailed by High Bailiff Michael Moyle.

Samantha Crellin, of Patrick Road in St John's admitted being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a police officer.

The court heard officers on patrol in Barrack Street saw Crellin lying on the ground near the car park at 1.20am on January 24.

She didn’t respond when they checked her safety and was unable to stand, but started shouting when they tried to help her.

The police officers told her friends to try to get her home, but Crellin began a violent struggle during which she elbowed one officer in the chest.

She was arrested, and started screaming and lashing out as she was taken into custody, hitting the officer in his face.

When she sobered up, she said she couldn’t remember anything and was totally ashamed and embarrassed.

Mr Moyle bailed Crellin until March 31 for a community service assessment before sentencing.
