Man jailed for GBH against bouncer

by isleofman.com 12th March 2009
A man who fought with bouncers in a Douglas nightclub has been sent to prison by High Bailiff Michael Moyle.

Carl Richard Thomas, of Marathon Road in Douglas admitted causing grievous bodily harm to one of them on August 1 last year.

Twenty-nine year-old Thomas got into a row with security staff at the Outback when they wouldn’t allow his friend inside the club.

His sister began arguing with them, and one of the staff put his hands on her shoulders, which prompted Thomas to start a violent struggle.

During the struggle, both Thomas and the security officer fell to the ground where the worker dislocated his knee.

Thomas accepted he had assaulted the man, and told the court he was drunk and had little recollection of what had happened.

Mr Moyle said he accepted Thomas was very remorseful but added security staff at the Island’s nightspots had the protection of the courts.

He jailed Thomas for four months.
