Record numbers attend energy exhibition

by isleofman.com 12th March 2009
The recent Bright Ideas Energy Exhibition was the most popular yet, with over 1,000 people visiting the Villa Marina on March 6 and 7.

A record 40 exhibitors had their energy-saving products on view and the event also featured a range of interactive displays.

The most popular display was the Carbon Gym where people could see and feel the effects of CO2 by using a rowing machine to try and inflate three columns of air.

The columns represented the amount of the gas emitted when travelling by train, car and plane.

There were also music sessions and a Manx farmers' market.

Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney says the event, and recently published results from the energy consultation, are proof that issues surrounding energy are considered increasingly important by Isle of Man residents.
