MHK to fight Bride tip plan

by isleofman.com 11th March 2009
The MHK for Ayre is to ask Tynwald to throw out plans for another waste disposal site in the far north of the Island.

Eddie Teare will make the suggestion at next week's sitting.

An application was put in by Cemex Island Aggregates Limited, and came after proposals were dropped for a facility at Archallagan in the centre of the Island.

Mr Teare says he had to wait to make the objection:

"Because it's a Council of Ministers decision, which I took no part in, it has to be laid before Tynwald and then members have either the sitting at which it's laid, or the following month's sitting, to put down a motion to deal with that report, and that's the opportunity that I've taken now.

"I feel that the report in many ways is flawed, it doesn't recognise the assurances that have been given to the people of Bride on many occasions, by government ministers and departmental members, that tipping at the Point of Ayre would stop, (and) that Bride has done more than its share."
