Public auction plan for council asset sales

Douglas councillors are to be asked to approve new regulations which would mean they could sell valuable assets, such as commercial properties, more quickly.

At tomorrow's monthly meeting they will vote on whether to change the rules so suplus items - also including materials, equipment and vehicles - could be disposed of by public auction.

Vice Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee Stephen Pitts says it's a system which already works well for departments of government:
