'No obvious reason for suicide'

by isleofman.com 8th March 2009
An inquest has heard a 37 year-old man from Ballasalla took his own life.

Colin Edward Quayle's body was found hanged from a stone outhouse, at his home in Clagh Vane Road, Ballasalla on February 22.

A post mortem showed the cause of death was asphyxiation, but he had also taken an overdose of diazepam and had been drinking prior to his death.

Evidence showed Mr Quayle had been under investigation by police in relation to a traffic matter.

However, he had found out the day before his body was found that he was likely to be given a caution, which he seemed happy with.

His friends told the inquest they he had seemed fine the day before his body was found, and they were shocked to hear of his death.

Mr Quayle's body was discovered by his father

Coroner Michael Moyle said Mr Quayle had left no note and there was no obvious reason why he had taken his own life.
