Isle of Man resident Neil Hodgson finished second at the opening round of the A.M.A. Pro American Superbike Championship at Daytona Beach.
The Corona Extra Honda rider finished just over a second behind arch-rival Mat Mladin and got the verdict in a photo finish ahead of Tommy Hayden.
Hodgson actually led mid-race for two laps.
The next round is in two weeks at the Auto Club Speedway in Southern California.
