ASBO issued after assault

by isleofman.com 6th March 2009
A 19 year-old man who admitted affray and possessing drugs has been given a seven month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Thomas Dale Crozier, of Hillside Avenue in Douglas, assaulted a man outside Fiesta Havana in September last year, hitting him around the head.

Crozier's advocate Darren Taubitz said it was a case of mistaken identity following an earlier incident in Strand 58.

He added only a trace of cannabis had been found in a tin in Crozier's bedroom.

Mr Taubitz said the court wouldn't be impressed with his client's past, particularly as he was already on a suspended sentence from a higher court.

He asked for that not to be activated and suggested another suspended sentence, saying it was clear Crozier had a problem with binge drinking.

At the request of Mr Taubitz, High Bailiff Michael Moyle imposed an Anti-Social Behaviour Order, banning Crozier from buying alcohol or entering on-licensed premises for two years.

Crozier must also submit to random drug tests and attend drug, alcohol and anger management courses for the period.
