Drug offender avoids custody

by isleofman.com 6th March 2009
A Port Erin man has been given a four month suspended sentence for drug offences.

Twenty-six year-old Keith Robert Lawler, of St Mary's Road admitted three counts of possessing cannabis resin and one of attempting to possess ecstasy, in November last year.

The court heard Lawler had used the drugs for recreational purposes for half his life but was now seeking help because he felt his habit was getting out of control.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle told him he should have learned from his past offences, pointing out two of the ones he now faced were committed while he was on bail.

In addition of the suspended sentence, Mr Moyle fined Lawler ?500, with ?100 costs, and warned him what would happen if he breached the suspended sentence.
