Green light for Viking festival

The west of the Island will see the return of Nordic invaders this summer.

Local heritage and re-enactment group Vikings of Mann is to hold a festival in Peel from June 29 to July 6, after the Department of Tourism and Leisure agreed to underwrite it.

The organisation's chairman Roy Baker is again hoping to get Vikings from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe to take part.

He says the festival will give a true insight into what life was like in the Isle of Man 1,000 years ago:
