Airlift passenger dies

by isleofman.com 4th March 2009
The passenger airlifted from the Ben-my-Chree yesterday has died.

The man was from the Island and is believed to have been a former travelling marshal.

He was on his way from Douglas to Heysham when he suffered what’s thought to have been a heart attack.

A rescue helicopter was called by the vessel’s master shortly before 11am and the man was tended to by a doctor and two nurses on board the ship.

The helicopter was scrambled from RAF Valley in Anglesey, and took the man to hospital in Barrow-in-Furness.
