Biggest showcase for job opportunities

by isleofman.com 4th March 2009
What would you like to be when you grow up?

If that question leaves you a little tongue tied, then the Isle of Man's biggest annual showcase of employment and training opportunities is for you.

Careers 2009 will give school leavers or anyone considering a job change a flavour of a wide range of professions, from law and media to hairdressing and medicine.

The aim is to give people some food for thought when it comes to career choices, and offer support to those who may be unsure of the direction they want to take.

The careers fair is a joint effort between the Department of Education and the Department of Trade and Industry and aims to give job seekers a flavour of the diversity of jobs available on the Island.

Nearly 1,000 students from the secondary schools and the Isle of Man College will be there, but it's stressed that anyone thinking about retraining or a career change is also very welcome to go along.

Would be pilots can speak to representatives from Flybe, anyone with an interest in accountancy can seek advice from the professionals and the Isle of Man Ambulance Service will make its debut at the fair, with details about the training and opportunities available within the service both now and in the future.

If all the choices leaves you feeling baffled, there's a computer programme which could help narrow down the options.

Careers 2009 will be at the Villa Marina on Thursday March 26, 9am until 7pm.
