MHK hammers 'lukewarm' attitude to games

An MHK is calling for a concerted Island-wide effort to ensure the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games are a resounding success.

In the House of Keys today, North Douglas member Bill Henderson will ask the tourism minister a series of questions on how he will be supporting the prestigious international event.

Mr Henderson sees it as a fantastic opportunity for the Island to sell itself to many nations - including the United Kingdom and the United States - as a top-draw offshore finance centre.

He is praising Treasury Minister Allan Bell for ring-fencing ?1 million for the event in last month's budget, but is concerned that not everybody appears to share Mr Bell's enthusiasm:
