Mixed response to DHSS proposals

by isleofman.com 1st March 2009
A single mum in the Isle of Man says she has mixed views on proposals to make it harder to qualify for some social security benefits.

Nicola has a two year-old son and is on Income Support.

Plans floated by the Department of Health and Social Security include claimants having to work longer hours per week before the benefits kick in.

At the moment she doesn't work but looking ahead to when her son goes to secondary school at the age of 11, it could cause her problems.
