Freight surcharge cut welcomed

by isleofman.com 27th February 2009
The head of an Island carrier has given a cautious welcome to news Steam Packet freight charges are to be cut.

From Sunday, the surcharge on freight will drop from ?8 per metre to ?5 – a reduction of 37 per cent.

The reduction in fuel costs has triggered the move.

John Quaye of Manx Independent Carriers says he has sympathy for the position the Steam Packet faces.
