Reassurances about regeneration fund

by isleofman.com 25th February 2009
Towns and villages around the Isle of Man are not going to miss out on money for regeneration.

Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney is dismissing claims it's only Douglas which will benefit from the ?8 million fund.

He says he's had meetings with commissioners in Ramsey and Peel and he's adamant the benefit will be shared.

Mr Cretney says some people feel the time isn't right for spending money in this way, but he believes the opposite is true.

Despite those assurances, there is still concern the focus will largely be on the capital and there won't be enough money for Peel and Ramsey.

Peel Commissioners chairman Thelma Birkett says the west would certainly benefit from an injection of cash.
