Knighter makes winning return to BEC

by isleofman.com 24th February 2009
David Knight marked his return to the British Enduro Championship after a two-year absence with victory at Muntjac, the opening round of the five-event series.

Taking his 480cc BMW for its first runout at a time-card enduro, he ended the one-day event ahead of 450cc Husqvarna-mounted Si Wakely and 450cc Husaberg rider Tom Sagar.

Knighter found himself in third place, one second behind Wakely, after the first test and fell further back after stalling his bike on the second.

But he turned it around on the final test, finishing over six seconds ahead of everyone else and claiming victory in the process.

Speaking afterwards Knighter said, "It’s great to start my return to the British Enduro Championship with a win.

"The Muntjac is a tough old event, especially because there are two tests early in the day and then one right at the very end.

"It’s the type of special tests where it’s hard to pull any real advantage but easy to lose time if you make any mistakes."
