Allotment plan progressing after offer of land

Residents of Onchan could soon have somewhere new to potter!

The local commissioners are considering the introduction of allotments.

By law, if more than six people show interest, a local authority must take the provision of allotments into consideration.

Captain of the Parish Harvey Briggs has offered a piece of land at Ballakilmartin, and the feasibility of putting it to use is under investigation.

This involves working with the department of tourism and government planners to see if it's a practical space in terms of access and parking.

If approved, the area could provide between 30 and 40 allotments.

Clerk to the commissioners Malcom Hulme believes people would seize the opportunity to own their area of green space:
